Mary Rose and Erich- Poulsbo Outdoor Wedding

Let's start this new blog off with a bang! Mary Rose and Erich get to be the inaugural post. Woo!

Mary Rose and Erich had a gorgeous wedding on the Olympic Peninsula. It was at a small park, just across the Puget Sound from Seattle, in Poulsbo, WA. The best part about their wedding was that their entire family got together to make it happen. They did all the food, the cake, bought them an arch, and did all the flowers. It was amazing!

Can you believe Mary Rose's mother made her dress? Isn't it GORGEOUS??

While I was waiting for their first look, I got to spend some time with the groomsmen. Mary Rose's son got to spend some time with his new step dad and the other men.

Mary Rose and Erich decided they wanted a first look so they had some time to themselves before the ceremony. They also had gifts for each other. They're both literature fans (Erich works at a library), and somehow they both chose poems by e.e. cummings. They didn't plan that at all!

Then the ceremony! It was really short, but hey, look- MARRIED!!

We hadn't done the bridesmaids photos yet, so me, Risa (my amazing second shooter), Mary Rose, Erich and the bridesmaids traipsed to a dock out on the lake. When Risa and I scouted it

earlier in the day there wasn't anyone there. When we got there with our bridal party, though, there was a group of teenagers jumping into the water and having a great time! Luckily, they thought us coming out for wedding photos was awesome and gave us some space to do the photos. The water on the dock made for some great textures.

Of course, no wedding would be complete without some beautiful photos of the bride and groom. We had gorgeous skies that afternoon, which I took full advantage of!

Mary Rose and Erich have an awesome sense of humor, which her son, Preston, seems to have inherited. Risa had an idea to have him take a photos of his mom and stepdad, but he took it further..... he wanted them running from a dinosaur. They pulled it off SO FREAKING WELL.

Then we headed back for dinner and the reception. First dances were had......

And Erich showed off his mad dance moves!

Things were winding down, so of course- CAKE. Which was DELICIOUS.

And finally, the last bridal portrait. See, they decided to set up a Three Amigos style photo booth area. This included a sunset backdrop, a donkey cutout and a stand up of Snoop Dogg (Lion?) in a luchador mask. Apparently, Snoop makes regular appearances at family functions, so why not here? We did a series of the Three Amigos Salute, but then they started messing around, which gave us this awesome image:

I had such a wonderful time shooting this wedding. Their families were so warm and welcoming, and seeing the love poured into this wedding showed from beginning to end. A big congratulations to Mary Rose, Erich, and Preston and thank you to all of you who were there. Risa and I had fantastic time!
